Post claims US evacuated West Asia bases

An X account says U.S. officials told the Wall Street Journal that the United States has evacuated personnel from military bases in West Asia.

The account, Devrajjoshi1947, posted it under a #BREAKING tag. It says the move is in "preparations for renewed fighting." The post carries no names and no numbers. It names no bases.

Developing — unverified: the evacuation itself, the identity of the U.S. officials, and the claim that the Journal reported any of it. Only this one post carries the claim in our packet.

The hashtags do the escalation work: Trump, Iran, Israel, Yemen, airstrike and USS George Washington. Tags are not facts.

The post includes a shortened link, but its destination isn't shown. An attached screenshot shows a news page headlined "U.S. Evacuates Mideast Outposts After Suspected Iranian Plot to Target Americans." The page carries a photo of the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, credited to AFP/Getty.

The post says renewed fighting. The screenshot says a suspected Iranian plot.

Those are two different stories. The post does not explain the plot named in the headline.

So here is where things stand. A screenshot is not a confirmation. Until the Journal's report or an official statement surfaces, treat this as a claim from one account, passed along from unnamed officials.

The one detail the post leaves out is the one its own screenshot supplies: a suspected Iranian plot to target Americans.
